single six grip frame steel conversion
I am looking up 3000 series, serial numbered ruger single six 22lr. It has the aluminum grip frame and trigger guard. I am wondering if here is a chrome molly steel frame conversion kit out there? Please advise.

swampy,
You might wish to look in Brownell's, and if that fails, go to www.bowenclassicarms.com. I am sure Hamilton would be glad to set you right up. If you do go to that website, be careful, not to drool on your keyboard...they have some real nice examples of FINE craftsmanship in there.

I will do that. I just spoke to Mr. Bowen last week. In my other life I am executive director of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild. He is a Guild member, and yes his work is exemplary.0 -
A friend was just last week proudly displaying a Single Six with stainless grip frame transplant. This was an Old Model so the part was from an Old Army.
He didn't say where he got it. Maybe from John Gallagher who did the work. Maybe on the auction side here, he is always buying, selling, and trading stuff.0 -

Where'd he get the part from?0 -
You might want to contact Ruger as well. A few years back I bought a flat-top .44 magnum. Had been re-blued and ported by Magna-Port so I bought it as a shooter; not a collector.
Ruger fit a steel grip frame to it for me. Don't recall the cost, but it was reasonable relative to the alternatives. The fitting and re-blue were superb.0
