mossberg 44us front sight
Have a mossy 44us C model ... front sight is all there, but taken apart in a plastic baggie.
how does this assemble? I know sight blades in first on the little rod... but then? Have 2 flat spings, the long one with bends on the end to "loosen" sight and allow post changing and removing of hood, and a shorter one. What order do these go in? Which way does the short one go in - the hole for the retaining screw is off center... Finally, what is the secret to getting it on the barrel and screwed in properly? I've tried a few different ways, but either I'm missing it or the 2 flat springs are in wrong...
Thanks!

Yup! Perfect!
So... I've now got it back together mostly properly (I broke the bent tab off the one flat spring so I can't put the hood on it... no big deal for me)
If you were to take yours apart DCS Shooters you'll see that there is a small pin with the sight posts on it, then a shorter flat spring with the round hole in it, then the longer flat spring with the elongated hole and the bent end for changing which post you are using.
For both flat springs, the bend goes towards the barrel.0 -
Good to see that you got it to work out llama, those links may have the old front sight assemblies if you want to have one with the tabs.
Is your rifle scoped?

Not yet.... I picked it up at a pawn shop for $80 OTD... rusty, but complete. Rear sight was assembled wrong, so they assumed it was just a old rusty off brand 22 with broken parts. Between the sights and the mag I could part it out for a few hundred
but won't.
It has been *ages* since I did anything with a target 22 and irons, so I'm gonna put a brick or so through it reliving my days at Boy Scout shooting camp, and then consider scoping it.
I've got a source for scope mounts cheap from Halvins, so I'll go with one of them (the gun is factory drilled and tapped) and probably another Simmons scope since I'm so happy with them on my other rimfires.0
