sxs stock
My g/f has a 16 gauge sxs as her home defense gun. It has a split in the stock and one side has pulled away from the tang.
The only markings on the receiver are Ranger 101.6 and on the opposite side the number 5100. Both inside the receiver and also on the barrels is a circled D followed by N E. There is a V on the inside of the receiver also.
How do I go about finding a replacement stock that fits? I hate to disassemble it and carry the receiver to the gunshow, but that's all that I can think of.

Thanks. Numrich lists this one for $84.40, not sure if the gun is worth that much expense. I'm going to loan her a Mossberg 500 20 ga 'til we get this figured out.

Manufactured by Stevens for Sears actually, check with gunpartscorp.com, boydsgunstocks.com, savageparts.com.
Not sure how much of a margin of differences between the 5000 and 5100 with tangs and such as it may use a 515 or 520 and may require some minor in-letting if you cant get the exact part.

I like that Tailgunner1954, sounds like a good solid fix for wood gunstocks and probably wood furniture and other items too and will keep that in mind if needed and Brownells is great.

I have found that Stevens sometimes changed their guns slightly when they made Hardware store guns. I would try to see if a new stock fits before I spent$$$$ 0 -
Watch the listings for stocks, parts and parts guns up for auction here on Gun Broker. Occasionally these items are up for sale. I found a pistol barrel I'd been looking for for ten years. Paid on $70.00 and increased the value of my pistol by $200.00 0 -
Get some "Agraglass" from Brownells.
Remove the buttstock from the receiver
Gently spread the crack open (slightly).
Cover the inside of the crack with the Agraglass
Clamp the stock to close the crack (if you can get some "surgical rubber tubing" it makes a great stock clamp)
Clean off any squeeze out and set the stock aside for 24 hours.
Do a final clean up in the inletting, and reinstall.

Do what tailgunner1954 says. That Acraglas repair will be stronger than the original wood. Hey, give it a try. You have nothing to lose, it's cracked anyway, right? 0 -
