1892 style lever action

would a 1892 style lever action be feasable in .327 federal magnum? How about a 6 inch barrel and oversized grips on the Taurus Model M-327?

  I wouldn't be doing any aftermarket rework on a Taurus in 327! Taurus's are hard enough to sell as it is, on the resale market. A customized one in .327 would be something you could never get your money out of. As long as you understand that, go for it.

  The 1892 came in .32-20 (several in the auction listings) so I bet one could be rechambered and feed the .327 Mag...dunno about pressures, though. The .32-20 is about 16,000 max, .327 Fed mag runs what, 45,000? I wouldn't do it with a real Winchester, but it's your idea, it might work out fine with a Puma type copy.
  
  As for the Taurus; with a custom barrel, etc, it's gonna be $$. Only 5" or longer barrel on a factory gun I know of is the Ruger Blackhawk with a 5 1/2" barrel.. or a mega $$$ Freedom Arms single action.

  A good number of real Winchester 1892s were converted to .357 magnum plus reproductions out of better steel, so the design would surely hold a .327. But you can't just rechamber a .32-20 because it is a slight bottleneck already larger in most dimensions than .327. You can't ream a hole smaller. So it would take a new barrel - I would not trust a reline at magnum pressures - and a good deal of fiddling with the action to get it functional with the long skinny straight cartridges.
  
  If you want a NICE revolver and don't mind paying for it, Hamilton Bowen will convert K and L Smiths to .327. The easy way would be to find a Model 16-4 in .32 H&R and have it rechamberd.

  As Hawk Carse says, there have been several reproductions, chambered in anything from 32-20, to 454 Casull. The 44 Magnum, and 454 Casull, have the most amount of thrust against the breech face, based on working pressure, and surface area.
  
  I would contend that a 327 FM, could be used in one of the newer reproductions of the 1892 Winchester, especially the Miroku/BACO made ones. I would also believe that the 1894 Marlin could also be chambered in this round.
