ring heights

i know this might be a dumb question but if i go from low to high rings does this make me shoot higher are lower with the same adjustment.

  Low, but only by the amount of the ring height change (IOW not much).
  Your zero distance might go up by as much as 3yd with a radical change (without re-zeroing after changing the heights)

  If by, "with the same adjustment", you mean sighted the same at 100 yds., i.e., 2" high or so, your rifle will shoot lower at very short range and higher at longer range (but not by much).

  Due to manufacturing tolerances, there is no sure answer to this question. Raising/lowering the scope center in relation to boreline in a perfect mounting system would result in slight differences of POI but not enough to be noticeable unless it's a very accurate rifle. Since mounting systems are not perfect, changing rings could result in POI moving in any direction.

  The main difference will be the increased angle between line of bore and line of sight, so the aparent (from the perspective of looking through the scope) trajectory of the bullet will change.

  I have sent you an e-mail with some links to a couple of descriptive articles regarding your question.
  
  The basic answers given are correct; close up you will be low and further away you will be higher due to the change in angle. The difference is that you will need to use the range to shoot in the actual scope/ammunition combination in order to get accurate numbers for your chart. Always remember to keep the rifle level since canting the rifle will add another variable to your data.
