Ivory Grips Model 29 Smith

I have a buddy that just had a fancy rig made for 2 S&W model 29's. He is now looking specifically for "Ivory" grips for the 2 29's. I told him Ivory will be difficult but he has his mind set on it for this rig.

Anyone know if/who would make these or have them?

  Try NUTMEG SPORTS they make great Colt grips but I think also LEGAL Ivory for most modern pistols They bought Tons of Ivory before the ban.

  Most of the common place grips here today are FAUX(fake or simulated) ivory, because of the importation ban on elephant ivory.
  
  However, just keep searching, as they do turn up on the auction side of things. Be careful, as the sticker price is not for the faint of heart.

  Elephant ivory anthrax has most no longer working it, along with the astronomical price.
  
  Here is a fellow that makes supurb grips (I have two pair in stag), and sells on Gunbroker. He does not list ivory except fossil mammoth ivory, nor does he regularly do Smith grips, but it could not hurt to ask.

  I know customs pitches a fit about elephant ivory, but is ivory from other animal (walrus,etc) also restricted?

  Yes indeed it is. Ivory seems to be only produced from animals that have become endangered, principally by the ivory trade.
  
  Fossil mammoth ivory, and fossil walrus ivory are not as far as I can tell regulated.
