8mm Mossin Nagant
I bought a sporterized Mossin Nagant and looking it over after I got home saw DX 7.92 stamped on the barrel and reciever ring. It has a eagle on the top of the reciever ring (polish?) I don/t want to mess with it until I find out for sure the caliber. Anybody heard of such a creature

To bad it's been sporterized! It would be very desirable to a military rifle collector. Their known as Polish Model M91/98/25, 8mm conversion M-N's.
It would be nice if you could post quality photos for our members, as they are super rare guns. Considering what has happened to and in Poland in the last 80+ years not a hole heck of them around, any more.
Hopefully it hasn't been bubbaed to badly, so it can be put back close to original condition.0 -

The one you have referenced was converted in Belgium after the First World War, for commercial sale.
The OP's rifle was converted in Poland for use by various Polish military units during the mid 1920's time frame. Although both of the rifles were reworked for the 8mm Mauser cartridge, the markings were different. Below is a photo I got off the net showing the receiver markings on the Polish rifle. Their kind of crude and hard to make out.

The Germans converted a few on the Eastern Front during WWII. They plainly marked them with German markings though the DX doesn't sound like one. 0
