pre 64 Winchester Identifcation

Is this the best way on the model 94? Or is it a wrong way all together? Someone told me that the pre 64's had the screw and the post 64's did not have them. i know you can tell by the serial numbers but this way seems easier when looking from afar. TIA

  I look at the screw configuration/orientation on the left-hand side of the receiver frame first.
