1920 German Luger
I originally started the thread off in the General Discussion forum, but now it morphed into an "ask the expert question"
I know very little about lugers, so I might as well ask. The magazine is stamped SCHMEISSER HANENEL and and the bottem a number 1 above the 9937. (in picture 39 & 40). What does the number 1 mean? I see plenty with the number 2 stamped. Also I can't find a magazine which is stamped on the back like this one is. They are all stamped on the side. Just curious.

Two magazines were issued with each Luger. In addition to serial number, they were individually numbered "1" & "2". 0 -

Your Magazine is made by a maker that produced some of the best quality luger magazines. If it was in better condition [:(] it could bring upward to $100.00 . However both the pistol and magazine have been neglected at some part of their life. 0 -

Ruff, The two mags I've always seen were the serno on the first one with the second having the serno and a + to denote the spare.0 -

You have a valid point their Mike. Way the name is stamped on the body though, with no waffenamt or lower case letter visible have to believe it's a very early mag from 30's. I don't know when Hanenel Schmisser started making their extruded stainless mags, but I still believe the early ones were numbered individually along with the serial number.0
