1892 Winchester receiver hole
Hello: What is the hole for that is about 1/2" above the front edge of the loading gate on 1892 Winchesters? Thanks.

That's the access hole for a punch to remove the bolt connecting pin, when disassembling the gun.. There's a cover screw on the left side that needs to be removed.. The access hole also allows oiling the lever/bolt pin..0 -
It's an access hole that is required to drift out the bolt assembly pin. There is a threaded plug screw directly opposite it on the other side of the receiver, that also has to be removed to get the pin out. 0 -
