colt 1911 SS series 80 trade value
Hi all, I have the above pistol which I got in the early 80's to carry on the job. I am now retired and am thinking of getting a SIG Sauer P220 compact for everyday carry(cc). The Colt has had less than 100 rounds run through it. 50 of those were to qualify for Cleet certification. The weapon is all stock with the exception of having had the extended magazine release and the extended slide release installed for service duty. I still have them but the original release's have been put back. I have the original box and paper work. What is it worth? How would it value in a trade for a new SIG Sauer P-220 compact. Thanks.

Best to sell it privately rather then trading it in, IMHO. As a rule of thumb a dealer will allow you 50% on the retail dollar on what he expects to get, as a trade in value. I'm sure if the Colt is in the description you describe he would be more then happy to swap you straight across for the SIG. You would definitely be coming out on the short end of the stick, with a deal like that though.

See if the gun shop where you find a Sig 220 will swap it straight across. 0 -
yelnif,
Welcome aboard to the Gunbroker Forums. You have come to the proper spot, for some of the best information, and advice, in the firearms world.
In all honesty, you would do good here on the GunBroker auction side. You would do good selling, and probably even better finding the Sig 220 you are looking for at a decent price, then having it shipped to a local FFL for a transfer. If you have an idea, that might be the route you want to take, and need some help, then drop me an e-mail, and I would be glad to get you started.

bear in mind that what people are asking fro guns is NOT the same as what they are getting.
check the completed auctions to find out what people actually get for guns, not what they want in their pipe dreams...0
