Colt DA 38 1895

I have a Colt DA 38 last date March 5 95 Sn 1111xx. It is pretty much ordinary but has a double stamped trident on the cylinder latch and the upper portside(left side) of the trigger guard. Does anyone know or have you seen these stamped tridents on other DA 38's?

  According to the article it denotes the Navy's conversion of earlier procured, ( 1889,1892,1894 etc.) revolvers to a latter post 1895 production standard.

  Yes I found this out. I have a 1899 Conversion. It has the trident stamp also on the cylinder that also reads #409 on the cylinder and 409 on the retractor rod as well. I understand that Colt did this so when they were rebuled the parts would stay together by this number.
