Remington Date Markings
I have the chart showing the codes for month and year of mfg; but I have a Nylon 66, made prior to 1968 as evidenced by no serial number. I removed the barrel so I could see every inch of it. Other than the tradename/cartridge info, the only other mark appears to be a proof stamping since it resembles the outline of a "gingerbreadman cookie"- no letters or numbers. I looked up Remingtons info number and will call after they're open tomorrow, but have little hope for success- so I'm hoping that someone here may have some guidance as to the approximate year of mfg.

Usually a 3 LETTER code, left side of the barrel, about a quarter inch from the receiver. Very small letters, need GOOD light and magnifier.

I think you will be lucky to get a date seeing as they started making them in 1959 and made over 1,050,000 untill 1989. 0 -
I've checked the entire length of the barrel and the only markings are Patent Pending & 22 Long Rifle Only. There's none of the usual Remington Arms, Ilion,NY etc; Since there is no serial number anywhere on the gun it would be pre-1968, so that narrows it down to a 10 year period. I'll try Remington customer service to see if there was a production period where no markings were made.

Perhaps it was either a replacement barrel, that wasn't dated. Or just a anomaly, i.e. a Monday morning or Friday afternoon barrel that didn't get the normal 2 letter date. Remington was cranking out hundreds of thousands of barrels during that time frame, that somebody screwed one up wouldn't be unexpected. 0 -
Just occurred to me- POSSIBLE that is not a Remington barrel. 0
