Molding Lead Bullets
I have just started molding my own bullets from scrap lead. I understand the bullets have to have 10% tin to make them harder. They suggest using 95/5 solder but that is difficult to find and expensive. Is there any cheaper more readily available source. Thanks

I finally aquired about 50# of linotype and I also have 50# of pure lead. What percent should I mix together for bullets to plink with?
They will be 44, 45, and 38 calibers.Thanks0 -
straigh lino for the .44's (if you load even moderatly heavey) about 1/3 lead & 2/3 lino for the rest (50/50 if you want to strech it) 0 -
For plinking, under 1,000 FPS, you can get by with 30% lino/lead as long as the lube is good, if you toss in some wheel weights it will help with antimony.. 0 -
I use 3 parts wheel weight to 1 part lino...Works good on just about every caliber...
