Series 70 GC NM question
Is this a period correct hammer? Most of the examples on the auction side have the old style hammer.

I don't think so. I believe Series 70's Colts S/N's started with 70 and Series 70 Colt Cup S/N's started w/ 70NMXXXXXXX or something similar. The trigger should be a skeleton adjustable. The hammer should be a spur type hammer. The grips on a Gold Cup were checkered with a Colt gold medallion. I've never seen a nickel plated Gold Cup.
Of course, I'm wrong alot also.0 -
Looks like a Gold Cup slide on a Government Model frame, the whole thing nickel plated.
The trigger is not Colt at all and the hammer maybe not. Commander grip safety to clear the burr hammer but does not blend with frame.
The grips might be off of some commemorative or another, if that is even a Colt medallion.
Sure looks like a Bubba Special to me.0 -
fortunately no one is bidding on it
