colt gold cup nm series 70

im looking at 2 gold cup pistols to buy...1st one is gold cup nm series 70.. 38 super..like new...the other is gold cup series 70..38 mid range..also like new..no pics yet..what would be a fair price?..Thanks

  First be careful on what any pistol is called . and second make darn sure the serial number combination of letters and numbers support what the pistol is called. Series 70 GOLD CUP 38 SUPER . They made 38 super match before the series 70 But have not seen one in a series 70 . did make 38 Special MID RANGE. We need detailed pictures.

  I agree, it is going to take close clear pictures.
  The Gold Cup .38 Special Midrange is a well known gun, but it is not a Series 70.
  I have read of a few postwar .38 Super Match guns in the 1960s that might be of Gold Cup style. They are rare and one late enough to be in the Series 70 would be very unusual.
  
  Know what you are looking at, or find out before you buy.

  Something is wrong. I suspect the guns are being incorrectly identified as "Series 70" guns. There are NO .38 Super or .38 Special Series 70 Gold Cups.
  
  There is a very rare .38 Super Gold Cup made only in 1961, with only 754 made. Mark II and Mark III Gold Cups in .38 Special were also made before the "Series 70" pistols arrived. There is also a Series 80 ".38 Super Elite National Match" (NOT a Gold Cup) that someone might confuse with a Gold Cup.
