Remington Nylon 66 Sling?
I just got a 90% Remington nylon 66 on a trade. It has a date code of 1961. It has a sling mounted to it. The mounts look to fit the contour of the stock and are bolted on with (2) bolts on each mount. They look really good. Could this be factory original? I've never heard of a Nylon 66 with a sling. It is not leather but possibly a nylon strap or similar. Sling is brown in color.

Very good. Whats this thing worth? Take my word, it is 90% condition.0 -
I have a Nylon 66, whithout any optional equipment, other than scope/mounts. I have checked all exposed metal and find nothing resembling the date code, as found on other Remingtons with more exposed barrels. Is the coding to be found under the nylon sheathing of the barrel? 0 -
I vote no on the "factory original" sling mount. The Uncle Mikes suggested swivel studs use a machine thread that usually pulls out or strips. I've seen some that may have been factory installed but they didn't look like that.
I carried one for decades with a leather bridle rein fitted with a loop on each end that tightened around the fore end and behind the pistol grip.0 -
I was at Cabela's and saw a nylon 66 in the gun library. It had the strap on the forearm and a stud for a swivel on the buttstock.
Looked professionally done.
Yours has the strap on the buttstock, is there a stud in the forearm?
The screws look like they're in crooked or is it the camera angle?0 -
Appears to be original.. I don't recall them being factory installed, but could be ordered as an accessory..

I have seen box end labels annotated as with scope...some annotated "with sling".....

It's diffidently factory installed. I bought one new that had the same sling hooks.
Paid $74.99 for it.. That gun of yours should bring at least $350 today.
Some reading materials about them.....http://www.chuckhawks.com/rem_nylon_rifles.htm0
