Cast bullet noses
Hello, I rec'd 1000 cast bullets in various
sizes all with lube rings but no lube.
Can I shoot these?
I haven't a clue as to how to lube them if needed.

Just use spray on lube if you don't have a sizer. Not like WD-40, but a spray made specifically for cast bullets. 0 -

They will Have to have bullet LUBE I like a STAR/MAGMA lubersizer but they are costly. I dont really like the spray on. Because what you want is to fill up grease grooves not get grease on the base or exposed nose. 0 -
LEE MAKES A GOOD 'DIP & DRY' LUBE ALSO 0 -
You can smear the lube on with your fingers, one-by-one. Messy, but it works. 0 -

Hold on here, if you have UNSIZED, as dropped bullets (not noses [;)][:)] ) You might not get good results even when using spray lube or tumble lube. They are very likely too large.
Can you post a picture and supply caliber/weight so we can try to ID the bullets???0 -
Hello. the 308's are running .302-.305
the .357's are running .357- .359
and the 44's are running .430-.432
I sampled about 8 of each0 -
Your 308's are way undersized for regular 30 cal. There are other sizing methods to uniform the 357 and 431. 0 -
You need to size the 357+44,s before shooting them.
Try ro find someone that has a size-luber to help you.0 -
Unless you have a 7.35 Carcano, those .308s are too small. The .357s and .44s will work if they chamber, as they are.
Buy a Lee lube and size kit for about $20 bucks. It will include a bottle of tumble lube. It's adequate. Make sure to bell your mouths before bullet seating.0 -
These are cast bullets I got in a trade
for a K31 die set and lots of ammo
and reloading noses.

If your .308 will accept a gascheck, they will probably shoot okay. 0 -
Many rifle bullets have a dual diameter. Maybe the driving bands are bigger.
You may or may not need to size those bullets. I would try one or two to see if they load and if they shoot accurately. Don't fire if they won't freely chamber because it's unsafe.0 -
I see all these suggestions and they're
very helpful.
All this isn't the point.
I traded this fella good usable and brand
new stuff.
The least he could have done is sized and lubed
the bullets.
I traded another fella for 45lc cast bullets,
he sized, lubed all ,and used gas checks
on some bullets. He was very thorough as I
try to be.
I'm not a half azzed person and expect the
same from everybody I deal with.
One doesn't always get to deal with the same type
of people.0 -
Maybe he didn't know his noses. Stuff happens, some people are jerks. +1 for post some pic's and the quanity you have of each.
I never saw the need for gas checks in a 45 Colt, a 454 yep.0
