Redfield one piece mount w/ rings...
I found this one piece mount with rings in the same auction box as the S&W 41 barrel. It is blued, Redfield marked with pat #, and has 3 mounting screw holes. Is this a Redfield Jr mount? What is it made for? Kinda looks like it would go on a Springfield 03/03A3. It is in very good + condition, only blem is a small spot of light pitting on the side, the rest is pretty nice and has grease still on it. Any help with what it is for, when it was made, and possible value would be awesome. Thanks!

It is an older Redfield Jr. The one piece rings and square ends on the base tell us that. It is not for the 03A4 as the rear of the base would not fit the male dovetail on the 03A3 bridge. The contour of the rear of the base looks like it might be for the 1903 Springfield. 0 -
Base is for the pre-WWII Winchester Model 70; it will not fit anything else. 0 -
richarda, I am not doubting your word but just wonder how you can tell. I could not see any model number or feature that would identify it for me. 0 -
The raised 'lump' at the rear bottom of the base is unique to matching the depression in the receiver top shape of the pre-WWII Winchester Model 70 (and its scope-unfriendly predeceasor Model 54).
I have one of these bases.0 -
Thank you for the ID. Any idea on value? 0 -
richarda, Thanks for info. That explains why I had to shim up one end of a one piece Redfield base when I when I mounted it on a pre'64 Model 70 Featherweight when I used the wrong Model 70 base. 0 -
The 3/4 and 7/8 split, one piece ring with parkerized finish is correct for the A4 using either 330 Weaver or Lyman Alaskan or M81 scopes. 0
