Just read an article about the latest version of the 37. $950 seems high. Has anyone seen one?

I'M TRYING TO FIND THE YEAR OF THIS ITHACA 37 # 371,453,XXX THIS IS THE NUMBER ON THS SIDE OF RECEIVER. IS THE 37 THE MODEL AND NOT PART OF THE NUMBER?

Out of about 900,000 descriptions for an Ithaca Model 37 shotguns, here is the one for the Model 37R Featherlight Standard: 12,16 or 20 gauge, bottom ejection, 4 shot magazine, 26, 28 04 30 inch barrels, hammerless, take down, any standard choke. Manufactured 1952 to 1985.
100%-$600, 98%-$550. 95%-$475, 90%-$400, 80%-$325, 70%-$250 and 60%-$200.
The other Featherlights described are 20 gauges only.0 -

I had a 20ga 37 made in 1972.
It wasnt mint like this 12ga Im now looking at and lacked a vented rib.
But the wood seemed to be a better grade and it had a nice factory recoil pad.
The books $600 price seems a little high in todays market.
Also does the book overlook some of the cost cuts Ithaca may have made between 1972 and 77?
Did some of the 1977 and later guns have recoil pads?
As a John Browning design an Ithaca 37 is on my gotta have list.
Just not sure if this is the one.
Wish my 20ga had a rib vent and was in better cond.
Any other opinions out there?

I worked at Ithaca Gun in 68,69 and 70. They were making quality guns them, soon afer that they started cutting corners and quality went down until 86 when the Ithaca plant closed and was reopened in King Ferry , NY.
Yes some Ithaca 37's had rubber butt pads.
Yours (in my opinion) is worth 400.00 to maybe 475.00. 600.00 is a stretch except to maybe a real serious Ithaca collector or is it was a Supreme Grade.0 -
Being as it was made in 1977 check ro see if it is one of the anniversary guns made that year.... 0 -
I'm not sure when it changed, but the forearm , if 'corncob' style makes a difference 0
