Remington 572 lightweight

I have a Remington 572 lightweight in Crow Wing Black, the black finish is thin on the receiver and barrel, the wood is very nice. Does anyone know Who or Where I can get new finish work done on this gun. For the people that doesn't know anything about these guns, this is not a blued steel gun. The receiver and outside of the barrel is Aluminium and cannot be reblued, it has to be refinished with Black paint product.

Were they painted or anodized. A wide sharpie in black, but it will not stick long. 0 -

They are/were anodized.
Of course, redoing the finish will remove almost all collector appeal/value.0 -
if it were in my shop... i would tear it down and i would use glass beads to remove the finish. spray it with baking laquer and bake. 0 -

Call Jeff at Falcon Coating. He has something he uses that is like welded on electrically. It is fantastic, only thing I use for coating firearms. 0 -

I don't believe your product would be what I want. The finish on these is a gloss.

Gloss finish would require the surface to be highly polished after all traces of original finish has been removed. This requires a person that is very highly skilled in the polishing of aluminum which is much softer and fragile then steel.
Unless you are OK with paying a pro big bucks, ( way more the the 572 is worth), for doing this, I would just forget about it.0 -

IMHO, any refinish - no matter how close to original - will detract from the premium an original example would command. I would hope that if/when it is sold, any refinishing that is done will be disclosed. 0 -

You did not - though by the following statement, it seemed that may be desirable at some point:

Also note, I said "if/when it is sold" - indicating that it was not a foregone conclusion that you wished to refinish it for the desire of resale. I was only stating my opinion on what a refinish would do to value, and stating my hope that such would be disclosed, should it ever be refinished and sold.
