FFL Fees and selling on Gunbroker

When buying or selling on Gunbroker, does the buyer pay both FFL fees (to and from) or is it split between buyer and seller? What if it is not stated either way on an auction? Whats the perception?

  Buyer pays, unless other arrangements are mutually agreed to prior to the actual transfer.

  If the buyer's(recieving FFL) FFL, needs to have the item sent from a FFL, then the buyer pays both FFL transfer fee's. Some states require some or all firearms to be sent from an FFL. The Buyer ALWAYS pays the recieving transfer FFL, because this FFL is acting on his behalf. This is something that should be, and NEEDS to be settled between the buyer, and seller, not the Expert's forum.

  If the seller is an FFL, there is no fee that needs to be paid to him. If the seller is a nonlicensee, he can legally ship a firearm to an FFL anywhere in the country, he doesn't need to pay an FFL ship the gun for him.
  
  Some FFLs believe that as long as they accept guns only from other FFLs, they will never be attacked by elephants. So, be sure that you know your own dealers requirements; if he insists on the sender being an FFL, make arrangements with the seller before bidding.
  
  I have heard that some states require FFL to FFL transfers. No one has ever been able to post a copy of those regulations.

  EDIT 1: No. USPS regulations requires pistols be shipped FFL to FFL. If either party is not an FFL, a pistol must be shipped by common carrier (UPS or Fedex).

  New York State has a State law that a FFL may only recieve a handgun FROM a FFL. California, of course, requires FFL Dealers (not private citizens) register with California DOJ prior to shipping to a California Dealer. Otherwise I am aware of no State law that limits who an FFL may receive a firearm from. There is no Federal law that requires handguns be shipped FFL to FFL. Postal regulations do not permit private citizens to MAIL handguns, but as said, can ship by common carriers.

  There is a ton of experience and knowledge here on the Gunbroker forums. Please feel free to ask at anytime.
  
  There is nothing wrong with asking for advice about auction costs or transfers but specific questions about costs are better answered with the seller since they are the ones determining the final price.
  
  This is one of those pieces of an Auction which get resolved by asking the seller so as not to get surprised at the end by costs.

  My local FFL wont accept from a non FFL , so if i am selling buying from a non FFL i would offer to pay his transfer fee before i bid....some dont want to bother .

  I suggest you find a receiving local ffl dealer who doesn't impose his own more restrictive rules than the federal law requires.
