Here is a photo of a Russian military Makarov, compare it to yours.

As far as value is concerned, 80% would probably be on the borderline as far as collectors were concerned. My WAG $250-$350 as a shooter?

EDIT #1, EG Maks are better quality then even the Russian Military ones. They always went for more money, even when they were more available back in the 90's. Nowadays a nice one would probably be in the $400-$600 range.

I had a couple of the commercial Russian Makarovs with the adjustable rear sights years ago. They were kind of rough but they functioned OK. They sold for around $100, NIB with a extra mag in the late 90's, nowadays since they dried up, also have gone up in price quite a bit.

I have an East German Makarov and got it back in the 1990s. I was very surprised by the quality of the workmanship and accuracy.

My friend later got a Russian commercial production model and it had much to be desired. The Russian had a very bad trigger, the slide seem to grind when you pulled it back to chamber a round, and the over all finish was very rough. The East German model was slick and as nice as a Walther, like comparing a BMW to a Yugo.

The one pictured by Rufe looks like a military surplus model and may be smoother than the commerical one from the 1990s. I was surprised at Rufe's estimate on the value of a "shooter".

Rufe, what would the value of my East German Makarov be in your view? Sorry, I don't have a picture, but it is in better condition than the one you posted and I would estimate a 90% condition. The only cosmetic issues are where the gun contacted the leather holster near the muzzle and a little on the rear of the frame next to the sight.

My 95% East German has been turned down for $550, by the guyI bought it from. He has been trying to get it back for years.
I like it too much to let it go [^]
