Friend brought a Remington 1100 12ga 2 3/4 over. S/N 91xxV, barrel code AAKR. Going to Remington Society web site the barrel should have a 2 letter date code near the chamber on the left side. This one has 4 letters AAKR. A(AK)R. AK would put date of mfg Mar.1963, which coincides with the low s/n, being production began in 1963. If I am correct, what are the extra letters for?
