Winchester model 53 in 44-40 caliber

Hello,

I have an opportunity to buy a Winchester model 53 in 44-40 caliber. I haven't seen it yet but may get the opportunity this weekend to see it. The seller describes it as all original with serial # 48xx but the blueing is worn somewhat with minor surface rust. Mechanically, it work fine.

Although it is hard to tell without seeing it, what would be a fair value on this gun if it is all there except for the bluing and surace rust issues?

Any advice is appreciated.

  From the bluebook of gun values 24,916 made between 1924-32 add 50% for 44-40 and 20% for a takedown. The lowest listing was below average at $350, this book is like 10 years old.

  $ 1800 for 50% solid frame, $ 2100 for takedown

  The Blue Book is wrong on the production number... the real number was just slightly more than 15,000.
  
  I would appreciate knowing what the complete serial number is. Based on the partial serial number, the date of manufacture is in the latter part of 1925.
