Anti-seize Removal

Hi guys,

I put together that AR-15, and got excess anti-seize all over it. [:D]
What's a good method to get it off?

    100% pure acetone will do the trick as well. Make sure you are in a well ventilated space if you use it.

    anything that cuts oil or grease.

    We use acetone on a gun cleaning patch or 'q-tip' to remove any excess. This includes finished assemble barreled actions that have been Cerakoted. Don't scrub, just wipe.

    anti sieze is nothing but grease with a lot of aluminum in it. Any grease cutter or even K1 or gas will clean it off

    Just check the label, as some grease cleaners should not be used on aluminum. I have good luck with non-chlorinated brake cleaner.

    Thanks for the help guys. I had some acetone on hand and that took care of the excess anti-seize.

    I believe there's copper powder in it not aluminum.

    Actually it is made both ways for different applications. Some specs call for AL and others for copper. Depends on metals it is being used on.

    As a point of fact, there are anti-seize formulas which utilize Aluminum, Nickel, Copper and Zinc in a Graphite carrier. A few are compounded with Molybdenum Disulphide.

    We user the Premium Nickel High Temperature due to the disparate metals we thread together.
