remington 572 feildmaster
I got this rifle from my uncle and it was passed down to him from his dad. i cant find a serial number, how do i find out the year of the firearm?

Prior to 1968 there was no legal requirement for rifles and shotguns to have a serial number. Most likely your Remington will be marked on the left side of the barrel just forward of the breech with 2 letters. This is a date code used by Remington. 0 -

The barrel should be marked if smooth bore and if so it is worth MORE then Normal 572 we need detailed in focus close up pictures from all angles to give you any kind of meaningful VALUE 0 -

From the Blue book of gun values 24ed. Model 572SB/Routledge - similar to 572A except smoothbore. Model 572 Fieldmaster 1955-88 Values for the SB seem to run about double the regular one. 0 -
Since the reciever on those are Aluminum, they also came in a variety of anodized colors. Some color's are very rare, and worth a lot of $$, if in over 95% condition.

Only the "Lightweights" came in colors. The Lightweights have an aluminum barrel with a rifled steel sleeve inside it. They weigh about four pounds.
They came in three colors: Buckskin Tan, Crow-Wing Black and Teal-Wing Blue. All have light tan stocks and forends. The Buckskin Tan is the most common, followed by the Crow-Wing Black and Teal-Wing Blue. The Teal-Wing Blue is very rare.0
