I would use low temp silver to hold the "nut" not glue. Be nice if you could get the correct screw or make one that fits the forearm. A larger graded bolt with the head thinned down and contoured to the bbl, outer threads removed and then drilled and tapped to the correct thread. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=5601

Could you post a pic of the bottom of the barrel, where the mount goes?

I checked Numrich which didn't have a schematic for the "Old Model" which yours may be. All the other schematics show a latch type mount.

To make the mount stud you would be best to have it radius cut to match the OD of the barrel for a solder joint. Give Numrich a call. They may have the correct screw for your 94. If not the forend screw, item #16A, for a Model 944A would be a better option than trying to "make due" with what you could find at the hardware.

As for attaching the lug, I would avoid brazing. There is to much heat involved and would cause scaling inside the bore which can be a PITA to remove. I would recommend a good paste flux and Brownells High Force 44 solder.
