Just bought a Double star super match with a 24" 1 in 8 twist barrel. Can anyone tell me what bullet weights should shoot best?[8D]

with a 1/8 twist, you can shoot the heaviest bullets, granted your chamber is relieved enough for the longer bullets. the heavier the bullets, the longer they are. a 1/8 or 1/9 twist is ideal for just about any bullet weights. its a middle ground of twists. you will probably get more accuracy from the heavier bullets.
remember, that the faster the twist, " lower numbers " the heavier the bullets you can use. the slower the twist " higher numbers " the lighter bullets have to be used. its not dangerous to mix up bullet weights with any twist rate, ar-15s will shoot most all, but you will probably get key-holes in the target and possable bullet disintergration.0 -

Thanks guys, I shot some 55 grainers at a 100 yards and it grouped less than a inch. I want to put a better scope on it and try some heavier rounds. Really impressed with the way shoots so far!![:D] 0 -
I have a RRA, 16" Varmint upper with the 1 in 8. It loves Hornady 68 and 75 grain Match hollow point boattail's, as well as the 62, and 70 Grain Barnes TSX. I was shooting 1/2-3/4 inch(yes inch, not MOA) groups, at 200 yards with it, with the 62 grain TSX. I have standardized on the 68 grain Hornady's forvarmints, target, and coyotes, and the 62 grain TSX for deer.

There is no way to know which load your rifle shoots best w/o actually shooting a variety of ammo. I have a rifle similar to the one you describe that shoots very well with PriviPartisan 69 grain BTHP. On a low wind day, this is coyote accurate(under 3") at 350 yards and is fairly inexpensive. 0
