Winchester 1866 Musket with no SN?

    Any idea where the SN on this could be?

    If it is not marked somewhere on the the lower tang, it has been obliterated.

    Or the lower tang was replaced sometime in its past. I saw an 1873 that had what proved to be an Uberti lower tang as the original had been damaged beyond repair - wonder what the ATF would think of that?

    With all of the problems ATF is having right now, I doubt that an 1866 Winchester would be on their list of priorities. Besides, ATF doesn't even consider an original 1866 Winchester to be a firearm.
