Best .22cal 1911 Plinker
Of the following 1911 style .22's which would you consider to be the first choice?
Chiappa, GSG, Umarex/Colt or Browning. Is the Kimber offering really a GSG and which is truer to the original 1911 as far as operation and take down.
I already have a Ruger MK11 Slab Side and a Smith 41 as well as a Star Model F and an Erma La22 but I have a 1911 itch[:)] and am on a waiting list for a Ruger.

I do believe that the Kimber unit is their own. If you want true to 1911, then get a true 1911,and either a Colt Ace conversion unit(they are spendy), or a Marbles Conversion unit.
Best
EDIT 1
Many of the ones you mention, and the Sig, are made by GSG, in Germany. While looking nice, and feeling great, theey contain a lot of zinc based pot metal. Not really what I want in any firearm...but thats just me.

Tha Kimber 1911 22 is a full size with a alloy frame.
When you get the Ruger just get a conversion kit. I have a Kimber on one of mine and it is accurate with ammo it likes, like all 22,s.0 -

Which is the same as the GSG, only more expensive.
Browning is a scale model, so 1911 parts won't swap out.
The Chiappa only looks like a 1911 - mag safety is cosmetic, etc.
I got the GSG, very happy with it.0 -
+ one on colt conversion unit . double click my user name send me a personal email. and I can show you pictures of many choices. of different conversion units as well as other choices. Like Barrel inserts ETC. 0 -
I bought my son a GSG for his birthday. It is a decent firearm for the price. A good plinker and so far 100% reliable.
I have a Marvel Conversion kit that I have used on both a cheap Taurus 1911 frame as well as a Kimber Gold Match frame. It is very accurate, and reliable.0 -
Have a look at the Walther. 0 -

As does mine. Have had it for 30 years, and it is the gold standard of 22 1911's, albeit pricey now.0
