can someone tell me how a 34-1 differs from a 34-2?

A 34-2 has one more upgrade than the 5 a 34-1 had. 0 -
All I have been able to find out so far is that the 34 became a 34-1 when in 1960 the I-frame was replaced with the J-frame.
Later on(1982)the pinned barrels were dropped as was the case with most if not all smiths around 82.
It seems the post-82 fixed barreled models were still marked 34-1.
The 34-1 was disc.in 1986.
When the model was reissued a few years later was it a 34-2?
Is a 34-2 simply a reissued post 1982 34-1?
If a change was made,what was it?
It seems to me that changes made by smith after 1982 were usually down grades.0 -
Standard Catalogue of Smith & Wesson only says the -2 had a 'new yoke retention system'.
I have no idea on the specifics.0
