winchester 1890 2nd model
I hope to have a shot at buying a blued 2nd model 1890 winny ser#256xxx.
looks to be all original.
lots of dings,dents,and patina.But no breaks,rust,or pitting.
the ammo tube rod is missing.
the slide action and trigger seem to work fine.
I estimate the condition to be about 75%.
the bore is dirty.he claims it shoots fine one shot at a time.
I can buy an new after market rod($40).Or hope to find a beat up 1890 with a good rod for the right price.
Is $425 a fair price for a 2nd model non case-colored 1890?Blue Book and selling prices on GB are all over the place.Thank you.

Hello Tone: Sounds like the graded condition is waaay lower than 75% with "lots of dings, dents, and patina" Plus missing a part. Also, you are willing to spend $425 plus $250 - $350 for a parts rifle, total of, say close to $800. And you now have one parts rifle, and another just a tad above a parts rifle.
For $800 to $1000 you can get a very decent model 3, near to collectible condition model 90. And maybe in WRF or .22 Lr to boot. That's what I did at the last gun show here in PA, bought a .22 LR for $1000 with flaking bluing on the receiver, bright bore, and all original condition.
My advice is keep looking, be patient. One will come along that you will be much more happier with.
