Winchester 1886 ?

I have a 1886 s/n 79050 with a 22" octagon barrel, full length magazine, crescent buttplate chambered in 38-56. I can't find a whole lot of information on this and was hoping one of you Winchester gurus would kindly steer me in the right direction.

  Does anyone know who can stamp my receiver ser #, I need to have the original script #'s from winchester. Bought a gun on here with no #.I have the actual #. Thanks Paul

  I'd start with Doug Turnbull.

  The original numbers were italic versus script, and they were stamped on the lower tang versus the receiver. How did you recover or determine what the original serial number was?
