    Should be marked on left side of the barrel, just forward of the receiver. Remington used a date code consisting of letters. If you have a copy of the Blue Book it would explain the dates in the serialization section in back of book. Problem with the shotguns is that the barrels are easily changed. If the barrel isn't original, you can't actually date the receiver.

    There are three models of 1100 20ga. Standard, LT, LW. Standard has 12 gauge sized receiver and larger magazine ring on barrels. LT and LW have smaller receivers, different barrel tangs. Barrels are not interchangeable among models.

    The last character in your serial number being an"X"..indicates it is what is known as a "standard weight" receiver...This is an earlier model of the 1100 20 Ga. The receiver has the same dimensions as the 12 Ga.
