Ruger SR22 Pistol

Any comments on this pistol? I would like to hear Pro's and Con's on it from people that own one.

  better made than Walther. Probably more accurate.
  
  Looks nice handles nice, swappable grips...nice.
  
  NO threaded barrel or provision to installed a suppressor...GAY.
  
  Mag safety...gay (ripped the ones out of my P22s, Rugers are probably engineered to destroy the pistol if you try to remove them.

  SR22 has decent sights, ok trigger,good grip,fairly accurate ,good plinker.
  Slightly larger grip, slightly more accurate, and slightly better sights than the Walther p22
  I own. Trigger wise ,my Walther is smoother and lighter then my SR22, but I have fired other Walther P22's that have crappy triggers so that's probably the luck of the draw when buying one.
  Extra mags are not cheap, and there have been some teething problems with the early production runs of the SR22.
  Check the SR22 you intend to buy out real close before you buy it for trigger and such.
  And yes I would buy it again, it is overall a fun and fairly well made gun.

  Early SR22's had problems with the slide retainer breaking. I bought a used first year of production SR22, NIB. When mine broke, the idiots at Ruger wouldn't send me another one. They wanted me to return the whole pistol to them. I live out in the sticks, where shipping a handgun becomes a major problem. So I bought a aftermarket slide retainer and installed it myself.
  
  In the photo below the slide retainer. Is that lever hanging down in the front of the trigger guard. Supposedly Ruger beefed up there slide retainers. When the early production ones started breaking?

  I'm going with the SR-22 #3604 with threaded barrel. Sights are high enough to use over the Suppressor. (legal here in KY)
  And there is an aftermarket magazine extension that, will allow the magazine to hold 15 Rds of ammo.
  
  I've shot a Friends with this set up, and like it.

  First of all I must respond to the comment "the idiots at Ruger". I remember having my first encounter with Ruger customer service in the early 1980's as a private gun owner and since being in the firearms business since 2000 I have had numerous contact with them and they have never failed to impress me. Every last time they have taken care of me and my customers. Some parts they do not ship and the folks in CS don't make those decisions. As far as the SR22 is concerned I just ordered more two hours ago as we ran out yesterday(I should not have let that happen). They run like a top, come with two mags and two different size grips. We run 15 of them for rental and for teaching ladies night and if they had problems I would be using something else. If you are going to be shooting it a lot you need to change the recoil springs every few thousand rounds. You can't go wrong. Good luck.
