Browning BDA .380 serial number ?
I just got a Browning BDA .380 in today. It is the nickel plated version with 13 round magazines. I wanted to find out the year it was made so I checked out the Browning website. That is when the confusion started! This pistol's serial number starts out with the letters MX, which according to the Browning website means made in 2003. The problem is the guns were only made from 1977 - 1997. I know Beretta made these pistols for Browning, but the serial number system is Browning not Beretta. Any ideas?

If it has Italian proof marks, one of the proof marks will be a coded date. 0 -

There is talk on the web about a limited run of Browning BDA .380's in nickel around 2005. Supposedly the run was limited to 1000 or 1500 pistols. That might explain the serial number dating to 2003 on my BDA. Can anyone confirm these Internet rumors or should I get a letter from Browning and be sure? Thanks for any info!!0 -

Maybe there is truth to a limited BDA production in 2006.
My pistol is a very bright nickel finish as they describe, and the serial number is MX.
I wonder if this model will have added collector value?
I think I will have to get the letter from Browning.
