Weaver Pivot Bases

Just wondering, do the Weaver "pivot base" rings hold and return to zero? I bought a one piece base Pachmayer for my Winchester 99 and it does fine, am considering getting the Weaver version for my Savage 99.

  If you put a dab of gun grease in the pivots and Lok-Tite the pivot screws , they will work fine . I use nail polish on the pivot screws myself , does the same thing , just neater (no color) . Back the screws out enough so that you can coat a half dozen threads then tighten enough so that there's some drag when the scope is pivoted . The less they are pivoted , the better !

  I have experience with both, but more with the Pachmayer. From what I have seen, if I could find the Pachmayer "Lo-Swing" for my Savage 99, that is what it would wear.
