    Rex Mahan,

The Stag Arms line are great starter's, at a very reasonable price. They are a good brand name, that are well aead of all these Johhny Come Recently pop name's. you have the choice between direct gas, or gas piston. I take the direct gas as my own personal prefference.

Hurry up, and don't delay, as availability is fading, and price is going up, as Obama Craze II is in effect.

Thank ya'll. Would you go for a Pre ban Colt? The store has both.

Unless your a collector, or interested in AR's for future monetary appreciation, a Stag arms would be better then a pre ban Colt.

I don't know what State your located in? You might check your local Walmart. Certain ones in my State are are selling AR's at super prices. My understanding is that the are going like hot cakes, they can't keep them in stock with the election and all the other crap that going on nowadays.

I shoot left handed so I bought my first Stag for that reason, the other two I bought were because of quality of the first one. The 6L Varminter shoots 69 grain Custom Competition Noslers unbelievably well. I am a single shot guy except for my stags, great guns, can't go wrong buying one.

At least the first two years of S&W M&P's were built by STAG. At least the upper and lower reciever's. They could have been assembled by S&W. I am still pretty sure that S&W still buys the upper and lower reciever's from someone. It might be STAG, or it might be DPMS, as yheir no frills SPORT model looks very close to the SPORTICAl by DPMS.

    EDIT 1

    Jug,

Nice list. Never knew about who used who's forging's. One can learn something new everyday. Thanks!
