Single shot 20 ga shotguns

What do you all recommend within a budget of about $500.00 Thanks as always guys... y'all are [8D]

    Your request is kind of confusing? A number of companies made/make single shot utility grade shotguns that sell for quite a bit less the $500. You could have the pick of the litter for that kind of money.

    The only high dollar single shots that I have run across are the ones specifically made for Trap shooting. Is that the type of single shot your referring to?

    Yes trap shooting is what I am aiming for here. But I could live with a S S 20 ga for hunting as well.. Just looking for advice on a good single shot in 20 ga. I am not saying I HAVE to pay $500 but I can budget up to $500 for a fine one. Always looking for a deal. I am not married to new at all. I like older guns b/c I think they were better made in some cases.

    The Savage 220A I had was fantastic... $75 at a pawn shop. Checked pricing here on GB, saw what they really go for, sold it off at a gunshow to buy another gun...

    As snow said, your question is a bit confusing. Although all
    ga's are used for skeet, 12 is "the" trap ga. In skeet, doubles
    are thrown, making a single shot a formidable handicap. If you
    are just talking informal clay birds thrown, there have been
    a couple of nicer quality italians made.

    Lanber 12ga is nice as is Fausti in 12ga both show a lot of gun for small price tags in O/U

    #1 I would not recommend "any" 20 ga. gun for Trap shooting. Use a 12 ga. (much better pattern) and lower the Dram of the load. An older model single barrel used gun would do or the Winchester 37 as stated above.

    Even some of the inexpensive Topper guns will work if you stone them a little. I would not recommend a Stoger since they rust easily and the balance is not good at all. Try to stay with a good used name brand, should be several within your price range.

    I would recommend a good pump gun, while not good for Skeet they are a good all around gun for Trap and Hunting.
