LUGER 1917
I'm gonna try to put this best I can, as my camera is shot and can't provide pictures. I have a Luger 1917 with an 8" barrel (artillery version?) It has the sliding front sight. The are two sets of numbers 4761 (4761 "m" under barrel) or 61 on most parts, with exceptions of there being a 4099 on the front of the trigger guard with a small "d" under it, a 99 on the locking bolt,a 99 on the trigger plate (sideplate) and 99 on the safety bar. It has the German military reciever proof found on DWM Lugers from 1914-1918. It has GESICHERT underneath the safety. The bottom of the magazine is 8505 stamped in the wood. It has a holster with SATTLERINNUNG EISLEBEN 1915 written on it. It comes with the walnut board stock on the bag of the holster. The grip does have the stock attatchment on it. I'm looking for any information on it, possibly a value. I have a pic attatched. It's the same gun and holster. The gun is better condition than in thephoto, but the holster is a bit rougher. I appreciate any help! It was found in a friends grandfathers closet. I know he was in WWI, but that's about all I know. Thanks again guys!http://www.collectorsmilitaria.com/a_matched_1917_dwm_artillery_luger_with_holster_112008.htm

sounds like someone took TWO different pistols and took the top of one the 8inch barrel part and installed it on what was most likely a standard 4inch bottom half along with a mismatch from either of the two
pistols a third serial number magazine. . then the board stock Could be original WW1 but their have been may Repro /FAKE stocks on the market as well as holsters for many years. I really think without pictures we Have NO chance of even a WAG as to value . Even with pictures, unless they are the quality of say the pictures that a seller like LOCUST FORK
has on her items. We really need a hands on to give a meaningful value. With mismatched parts the parts may be worth more sold that way. Remember this pistol is 95 years old it could have had all kinds of things done to it in that amount of time be. SORRY0 -
I agree on the pics. I'll see if my phone can take quality pics. 0
