Is it possible to rechamer a model 340 in 22 Remington to 222 Magnum?????
what would be an approxime cost????

  I believe you meant .222 Remington and, if so, I can't see why it would not be possible. You could rechamber it to .223, also, which might be a more practical conversion. However you may then have a single shot since the magazine may not accomodate the longer cartridge. Cartridge overall length of the .222, .222 mag., and .223: 2.13", 2.28", and 2.26" respectively. As far as cost, you would have to ask your gunsmith.
  
  I just checked my notes. I have several rifles in .222 Remington, a .222 mag. and a couple of .223's--all bolt action (no Savage 340, though). I am guessing that you are interested in getting a velocity gain by this conversion and, of course, you would but, in my experience, it wouldn't be much and hardly worth the trouble and expense. A .223 conversion would give the advantage of easily available ammunition--.222 mag is hard to find and .222 Rem. is getting so, too. If you're set on this, I think it would work (except for the magazine length), and good luck.

  If you own the 340 try a 223 Rem round to see if it will work. If you can get it in and it will feed it should work. Round won't chamber all the way so don't try. Good luck!

  Had a 340 rechambered to .223 some years ago; worked OK. The magazine box overall length is sufficient, but there is a vertical shoulder pressed into the mag that is specific to the bottleneck location of the .222 which has to be removed (not difficult).

  340s were chambered in .223, a factory magazine would be the easiest answer.
