What you have are Tritium sightsthat have lost their illumination. No, they cannot be charged back up with bright light. They start to dim around 5 years, and will go totally out in 7-10 years. The need to be replaced...a simple project for a decent gunsmith.

The half life of tritium is 12 years; but, if you have trouble seeing them, it's time to replace.

I don't see the value of tritium sights for anyone but LEO's (because they don't have to pay to have them replaced). There are lots of sights out there that will never need replacement; that would be my choice if my gun needed the tritium sights replaced.

EDIT: If I had to replace Kimber sights, I'd stick to Kimber products; your gunsmith can get them from the Kimber store. If you replace with a generic brand, they may not be a perfect fit for your gun. Plus, if you install generic sights, you will take a beating if you ever sell the gun.

I have a call into Kimber but I don't know if I'll hear back from them.

Yes now I remember that they used to be very visible.

What would be an good sight swap.

    What sights would you recommend?

They are most likley Meprolight sights as Kimber owns them.
If you bought it new and it is under 12yrs. old, the sights are under warranty.

I'm really bad with time but I think I will be under warranty.

    Thanks
