Incendiary Rounds
I guess I don't know the correct nominclature but in looking for incendiary ammo on GB I find ammo discribed as flash/bang. What is the propper term for ammo that explodes and burns at many K degrees?

It might help if you specify what specific caliber your looking for. Generally 30 caliber and smaller had just tracer and API ammo. The stuff that explodes is 50 caliber and up. As PS noted legal problems will likely ensue if you don't have all your ducks in a row, and are apprehended with it by the federallies. 0 -

.50 cal BMG Incendairy ammo has a silver tip. It creates a flash and small explosion on impact, designed to ignite flammable targets like fuel tanks.
The Raufoss round is different. It is designed to penetrate hard targets, then explode with deadly fragments. It is much more expensive than incendiary ammo and has a multi-colored tip. Incendairy ammo is legal in may areas, you would need to check your local laws and make sure its legal to own. I have seen it here on GB, its just not offered for sale very often.0 -
Gun shows are still lousy with 30-06 and .50 BMG API (Armor Piercing Incendiary) ammunition.
Ammunitiontogo is a GB seller and currently has .30 carbine and 7.62 x 39 Incendiary tracer ammo.

It is legal where I live, but obviously you should check with your local jack-boot to see if it where you are.
Incendiary is historically the term most used for explode on contact ammo. Flash-bang can be a different type, such as flash-bang 12 gauge rounds designed to explode 100yds after firing. These are called 'bird bombs' and are readily available.
There is also specific 'flash-bang' 12 gauge ammo on the auction side, designed originally for disorientation of folks in an enclosed area.0 -
Jeff- not that you asked for advice- and I'm not a lawyer- but probably have burned off as many military firing ranges as anyone here with APIT, Tracer, and HE/WP ammo. Some food for thought for anyone looking at Incendiary or Tracer ammo-
We EXPECTED those ranges to burn periodically- hence the big firebreaks plowed around the impact areas. You may not have controls like that where you are shooting. Even regular .30 cal tracer has a 2-3 ft tail of VERY hot flame behind it in flight. AFTER Smokey D. Bear comes and beats the crap out of you with his shovel, the Forestry folks send you the bill for putting out the forest fire. Have you SEEN how much they charge an hour for those helicopter water drops? [B)]
