M1 stock trade
I need some opinions on a stock trade.I have an extra Springfield stock with the Crossed Canon stamp and the stamp SA and JLG on it. A club member has a Springfield with an IHC stock (numbers in barrel channel) that has been refinished and all the cartouches including the "P" on the pistol grip have been sanded off.He seems to think it would be a good deal for me as IHC stocks are worth more but I am leary of a trade like this and I think the refinished IHC has lost most of it's value.I Need some of your expert opinions.Thanks

IMO any "as issued" stock for a collectable like a Garand should bring more than one that's been partially "Bubba'ed"... even if the maker of the Bubba is rarer. Now if his was as-issued, I'd say trade. 0 -

I agree! Any "collector" value that the IHC stock had is gone IMHO. That said, someone may think different than me. I wouldn't think that a refinished stock holds the same value as an unmolested USGI stock with the correct cartouches.0 -
Of course it's a good deal For Your Buddy! Just why do you think he approached you with the deal?
You can be mean, and tell him that you will take your Springfield stock, re-finish it to the contition of his IHC stock, so that it will look just as good on his rifle, as the IHC stock will look on your rifle.
