Your bayonet is a post WWII and Korean war made around 1954 by the
Turner Manufacturing Co. in Statesville, NC. They made approximately 298,691 bayonets.

Yours has a plastic handle, while not very collectable they bring in around $40 for one in fair shape to $100 with scabbards for one in excellent condition.

The scabbards were made by 2 companies for WWII, B.M. CO and V.P. CO any others were post WWII, sorry I don't have the mfg names handy.
The M8A1 was postwar if it has a metal eyelet or a metal tip at the bottom tip

If you want to collect M1 Carbine bayonets, prefer the leather handle versions made by these mfg's and their scarcity by numbers made.

    Aerial 91,000
    Kinfolks 119,000
    Case 224,000
    PAL 268,000
    Camillus 332,000
    Utica 515,000
    Imperial 917,000

Thanks much for the information. I don't collect bayonets (yet!). I got my carbine from the DCM back in the day. In those days, the surplus dealers were advertising carbine accessories in the American Rifleman and I bought this bayonet/scabard from one of them. Of course, I can't remember what I paid for it but it couldn't have been much since I only paid $20 for the carbine.
