Winchester Model 50 Custom Shop Engraving Patterns
Can anyone tell me where I can find examples of commonly available Custom Shop engraving patterns Winchester offered on the Model 50 in the mid to late 1950s? I know a customer could order any sort of custom engraving, but the Custom Shop did offer standard patterns from which a buyer could choose. Seems to me I remember seeing examples of available engraving in a vintage Winchester catalog, but I cannot remember where I saw it. Anyone know if this info is available on the Internet somewhere? I recently bought a Model 50 Skeet Grade gun with some fairly elaborate engraving on the receiver...mainly scrolling on the left side and some game birds on the right side. Overall, it's very well done....definitely not an amateur job. I sure would like to determine if this gun came from the Custom Shop or if this was an aftermarket job. Was it common practice for an engraver to identify himself somehow or somewhere? Would appreciate any help. Thanks.
