selling a 30-40 Krag Receiver
Legal question, Is a copy of a dealers FFL required to sell an 1899 stripped 30-40 Krag receiver? Is there a date that as an antique it is not required? I want to be completely legal. thanks

Yes.
The receiver is considered the firearm.
Prior to Jan 1, 1899 the firearm is considered an antique for Federal Purposes.
You may still have issues on the state or local level.0 -
It depends upon the serial number.

A generally accepted source: Flayderman's, shows that serial numbers below 152670 are antiques. If your receiver falls below that magic number you are fine. If it does not then the receiver must go to an FFL dealer and Curio and Relic FFLs are not applicable because the receiver is not a complete rifle. 0 -
Correction it is a 1898 Krag, does this change anything? also the serial no. is 4679XX. Thanks again 0 -

Made in 1903. It needs to go through an FFL dealer (not a C&R).0 -

It would appear to be well outside the range of antique serial numbers.0
