Remington 700 scope base question
I'm putting a Leupold Rifleman on a model 700, 30'06. There is about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch too much space between the rings with the current bases - Weaver # 35 front & # 36 back. Is there another weaver base that I can replace that # 35 with to move the front scope ring back? Is the #40 the base that I need, or is that a rear base also?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Go to a one piece base. That should give you all the room you'll ever need. 0 -
Some of the Leupold scopes when mounted onto a Rem 700 using weaver bases will also require the use of a front extension ring or possibly a front and rear estension ring for proper eye relief on a 06!
This extension configuring also be true when using other types of bases, even one piece type bases on the rifleman and 2x7 power shorter scopes on Long action rifles.0
