Rifle Barrel RELIC
Hello All.. found this relic buried in the ground. Can anyone help identify this octagonal barreled gun? Length of barrel to the receiver is just under 27" long and looks to be a smooth bore. I am thinking that the form of the top of the receiver might help identify this. Single Shot? THANKS!

Looks like a Stevens to me. 0 -
Don't think any Stevens ever had those odd half-moon lugs on top of the frame. Can't fathom what purpose they served. 0 -
Can't see the front one plainly, but they're probably mounts for a
telescopic sight. Back then, they had to use lenses with long focal lengths to keep the rainbow colors from blurring the images.

Yes, my first thought was a Stevens... I have a Stevens Favorite .32 rim single shot that is very similar, except for those crescent shaped lugs on top. So far, I have not found a match in any of my research. THANKS! 0
